The library of common definitions and code references are for you to copy and paste wherever the information would be helpful, including on community websites, newsletters, or social media pages. Water customers are often unfamiliar with some of the words, phrases, and commonly cited code in reference to Cross-Connection Control and Backflow Prevention. These pre-written definitions and links make explanations simpler and easier.
Sample Program Announcement Letter
The sample program announcement letter serves as a template from which you can build and edit your own custom program announcement letter. This will be your first public notice that the program is going to be starting.
Digital Tri-Fold Brochures
The digital brochure is presented in a tri-fold format with useful information and images that can answer many of your water customers’ initial questions. Included in the toolkit as a PDF, you can choose to share these brochures digitally online or through email, or you can have them printed to distribute them locally.
Pre-Written Social Media Posts & Links
The pre-written social media posts are designed to be shared intermittently on your city’s Facebook page, website, or other social media platform. There are six posts in total, each one with a corresponding photo to be posted alongside the text. Also included are several links to numerous blog posts on our website and other useful resources.
Technical Images & Graphics
The images included in the Toolkit are both graphics and photos of various backflow prevention situations or conditions. Visuals are a strong way to connect with your water customers and to explain complex scenarios. These images can be utilized in a variety of ways across multiple platforms.
Online Video Links
The videos in the Toolkit provide a brief overview of cross-connection hazards, backflow prevention and the responsibilities of water customer participation in the cross-connection control program. These short videos are an excellent way to break down the specifics of how your program ensures safe drinking water and benefits your water customers. Customization of these videos including city logos or citing specific local codes are available for an additional fee.
Public Awareness FAQ Web Page
The final component of the toolkit is the development of a “frequently asked questions” web page under the domain “watercustomer.com” with a URL that will include the name of your municipality or preferred water system title. This web page will incorporate elements from your water system or municipal website and include videos, graphics, and other informational content along with an extensive list of FAQ’s.
